The film revolves around Sanjay Chaturvedi (Vicky Kaushal), an IT engineer and Karina D'souza (Angira Dhar).They both work in the same bank and dream of having their own home but are held back because of problems in their personal lives. Sanjay's boss, Rashi Khurana(Alankrita Sahai) is having an extra-marital affair with him, but refuses to leave her husband, Kashin (Arunoday Singh), while Karina is bethrothed to Samuel (Kunaal Roy Kapur) and constantly held back from her dream of owning a home, by her mother Blossom (Ratna Pathak Shah). Everything changes when Sanjay finds out about a joint housing scheme, and asks Karina to apply for the scheme with him. She agrees and the movie portrays various problems they have as they are trying to buy the apartment as an unmarried couple.

Story of the death of an ordinary firefighter named Kim Ja-hong (Cha Tae-hyun) and three grim reapers, Gang-rim (Ha Jung-woo), Haewonmak (Ju Ji-hoon) and Lee Deok-choon (Kim Hyang-gi) who escorts Ja-hong to the afterlife, where he will be assigned a public defender to represent him in 7 trials in 49 days to find out how he lived his life and where he ought to spend the rest of eternity.
